Calling a Number in Another Country
To call a number in a different country while you’re roaming, dial:
+ (country code) + (area code) + (number)
Example: If you’re roaming in the UK and want to call Dubai, dial: +971 4 xxxxxxx
Reminder: Always include + (or 00) before the country code.
Calling a Number in the Same Country
To call a local number in the country you’re visiting, dial it the same way locals do (often starting with 0).
Example: If you’re in the UK and calling a London landline, dial: 0207xxxxxxx
If roaming is ON but data still isn’t working, your APN settings might need a quick refresh.
You can only edit APN settings on iPhone if your network allows it. If it does:
If you need to enter an APN manually, follow:
Settings → Mobile Networks → Access Point Names (APN) → Add New
Use these values:
Save the APN, then restart your phone.
In a few locations, your phone can accidentally connect to a nearby overseas network — even if you haven’t left the country. This is most common near borders and coastlines where signals overlap.
If this happens, you may see roaming appear on your screen unexpectedly, and PAYG roaming rates could apply.
If anything looks off while you’re travelling, our support team can help you quickly.
Roaming is designed for customers who mainly live in the UK and travel occasionally. If your usage abroad is unusually high or continuous, fair usage limits may apply, and additional charges can kick in.
PAYG charges may apply depending on your plan and destination.
To stay in control, check your roaming option for the country you’re visiting and choose the best fit for your travel time and data needs.
